Crafty Business in June

Unfortunately the first Monday in June also happens to be Queen's Birthday weekend. Given this and the fact that Craft 2.0 will be just days away we've decided not to run a June Crafty Business session.

We do however invite you to come along on Sunday to the Christchurch Creative Space at the Canterbury Innovation Incubator. We're guessing by that stage you'll have had yourself pretty heavily buried in Craft 2.0 preparation so this will be chance to hang out with others, relax whilst still working and maybe share in a little moral support from other crafters.

The Canterbury Innovation Incubator is at 200 Armagh Street (opposite Centennial Pool), come down between 2pm - 7pm, Sunday 31 May. There's coffee, tea and internet access for a gold coin donation and pizza for $6.

Crafty Business #4 - Resources

Here are some resources you might find useful in preparation for your next craft show.

Crafts and Craft Shows: How to Make Money - Philip Kadubec
This book covers marketing yourself and your product, pricing your product, selecting your shows, stall setup and display, dealing with customers and wholesaling your product. Available for loan at the Christchurch Public Library.

Online Resources

From Etsy: Craft Fair Tips
The Etsy sellers handbook is a great resource in general and it covers every craft selling/marketing/making topic you'd ever want to know about. Selling at fairs is one section of the handbook that's a little neglected but this particular article is very good.

The Indie Craft Fair Guide - The How-To Guide for First Time Sellers
This article is written for an American audience but still has useful tips for first time sellers.

Session #4: Selling at Fairs & Markets

Session #4 kicks off tonight at 7pm at Churchills Public House, 441 Colombo Street, Sydenham, Christchurch.

Craft 2.0 Christchurch is next month and in the lead up we'll discuss craft fair basics. The information we'll give is applicable to any craft fair but it's a timely topic given that Craft 2.0 may be the first major Craft Fear (pun intended) for some. We'll show you that there's nothing to be scared of and a whole heap of things to be excited about. We'll give you some tips and tricks for satisfying your adoring public and we'll do everything we can to help make sure selling at craft fairs is a rewarding and profitable experience.

Come and join us for a healthy dose of inspirational crafty company, business planning advice and a glass of wine at Churchills in Sydenham at 7pm tonight, Monday 4 May.
